The vegetation replacement by buildings in the big cities favors the temperature elevation, causing in the Brazilian population an thermal discomfort, with some implications on the communities health, especially during the spring-summer season. Remote sensing is an important tool in spatial analyzes and in support of the decision-making process related to regional planning and management of environmental resources in urban systems and has been of great importance in climate studies. In this context, the objective of this paper is to analyze the temperature of two parks in the city of Cuiabá / MT, verifying which would have a more pleasant temperature considering their physical characteristics. In order to obtain the values of the surface temperature, the software ArcGIS 10.1 and the image of the satellite Landsat 8 TIRS (Thermal Infrared Sensor) of the month of August of 2015 were used, being carried out in the raster calculator of the software the calculations to obtain the temperature, in degrees Celsius. It was verified that the rounded physical form protects the Mãe Bonifácia Park from external agents, while the Massairo Okamura Park presents an irregular shape, being more subject to the increase of temperature, fire, wind, humidity and others. However, both parks have a more pleasant climate than the surrounding environment in the range of 26.08 ° C to 31.76 ° C.
